JERSEY CITY, NJ—On Thursday, July 20, 2017, Board of Education President Joel Torres, stopped by Greater Bergen Community Action’s Jersey City Head Start otherwise known as Lincoln Park Preschool for story time with the kids. Joel took a tour of the brightly decorated building before he stopped in the classrooms to read Layla’s Head Scarf, by Miriam Cohen, to the children.
Joel attended a Head Start preschool in Jersey City as a child, and has continued the tradition with his own children. He knows the positive impact Head Start centers have on the city’s youngest children. “It was great to share time with the staff and children at Greater Bergen’s Head Start,” said Joel. “It’s important to have these opportunities available for our families in order to give our children fundamental learning concepts to help them excel as soon as they move on to Kindergarten and beyond.”
Lincoln Park Preschool Education Center is one of GBCA’s newest additions to their Head Start locations. With 11 early childhood education classrooms, the new center provides a safe and nurturing environment for children to grow and learn in.
