Last Friday GBCA, Partnership for Maternal and Child Health of Northern NJ, Community Food Bank of New Jersey, Bergen Central Intake and the Meadowlands Family Success Center, hosted a successful Free Produce Market in Cliffside Park. Volunteers handed out bags filled with cabbage, clementines, spaghetti squash, potatoes, green beans, onions, and probiotic juice to over 200 families in need. There were also vendors from a variety of agencies within Bergen County present to provide the families with information about available resources that they can take advantage of.
“Today we took on an active role in stomping out hunger in our own community,” April Stephens, GBCA Head Start’s Social Service Specialist, said. “I hope we not only provided our families with nutritious food, but also nurtured the relationship between our agencies and the people we serve.”
